Albany, NY Votes for Women Reception. The LWVNYS 100th Anniversary Events Committee has been exploring chartering a bus that would begin in Buffalo with stops along the Thruway in Rochester, Syracuse and Utica. It would take us to Albany for the opening of the VOTES FOR WOMEN: CELEBRATING NEW YORK'S SUFFRAGE CENTENNIAL exhibit at the NYS Museum. The LWVNYS Education Foundation and the NYS Archives Partnership Trust are sponsoring an evening reception.

This will be an overnight trip, returning Sunday morning. The bus company has both a 39 passenger and a 56 passenger bus with rest room facilities. We estimate the cost for the bus would be about $85.00 per person. The State League has reserved rooms in two downtown hotels, the Hampton INN ($109.00) and Town Place Suites ($119.00). Both hotels will provide Sunday breakfast.

Votes for Women Exhibit. The New York State Museum's traveling Votes for Women Exhibit will be on display in SUNY Fredonia Reed Library, from Nov 7, 2017 thru Dec 8, 2017. A companion display, curated by Fredonia students, will feature select highlights of the local grassroots campaign for women's suffrage.

There will be an opening reception in Reed Library on Tuesday Nov 7, 5-6:30 pm, with a catered appetizer spread and cake in celebration of 100 years of women's voting rights in NY. At the opening reception, we will also hear from Dr. Shannon Risk (Niagara University), a women's history scholar who contributed to the NY State Museum's suffrage exhibit.

The reception is free and open to all, and the first 50 guests who attend will receive a commemorative gift. This event is sponsored by the SUNY Fredonia College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Division of Engagement and Economic Development, Reed Library, and the League of Women Voters.
